Description
Create charming crochet ghost tassels to add a whimsical touch to your autumn décor.
Ingredients
- Worsted weight yarn – about 200 yards (183 m) total
- Hook size I-9 (5.5 mm)
- Yarn needle for weaving in ends
- Scissors
- Optional stitch markers
- Measuring tape
Instructions
- Start by creating a magic ring to form the base of your tassel.
- Chain 2. This is your turning chain and will not count as a stitch.
- In the magic ring, work 12 double crochet (dc). Pull the tail of the magic ring to close it up.
- Slip stitch (sl st) into the top of the first double crochet to join the round.
- Chain 2 and work 2 double crochet in each stitch around. This increases the total to 24 stitches.
- Join again with a slip stitch at the top of your first double crochet.
- Chain 2, then work 1 double crochet in the first stitch, followed by 2 double crochet in the next stitch. Repeat until you have 36 stitches.
- Join again with a slip stitch and chain 2. Work 1 double crochet in every stitch around.
- When you reach your desired height, tie off the yarn, leaving a long tail to use for hanging.
- Carefully weave in the ends for a clean finish.
- To create the tassel portion, cut a piece of yarn about 12 inches (30 cm) long and wrap it around the top of your finished ghost, tying it tightly.
- Trim the ends of the tassel for a balanced look.
Notes
You can use different yarn fibers like cotton or acrylic, but ensure the substitutes match the general weight and texture.
