Description
A simple textured dog blanket that provides warmth and comfort for small dogs. This project is easy and calming, perfect for beginners with basic crochet skills.
Ingredients
- Worsted weight yarn (weight 4, medium), acrylic, about 850 total yards (5 skeins of 100 g, 170 yards each)
- H-8 (5.0 mm) crochet hook
- Yarn needle
- Small scissors
- Tape measure
- 2 stitch markers (optional)
Instructions
- Make a slip knot and place it on the H-8 hook. Begin a foundation chain of 64 chains.
- For Row 1, make 2 more chains for the turning chain. Skip the first 2 chains from the hook, then work 1 double crochet (dc) into the next chain. Repeat across the foundation chain. You will have 62 double crochet stitches.
- Turn your work. For Row 2, chain 1 (not a stitch), work 1 single crochet (sc) into the first stitch, then continue with 1 sc in each stitch across. You will have 62 single crochet stitches.
- For Row 3, chain 2 for the turning chain and turn. Work 1 double crochet in the first stitch and in every stitch across. You will have 62 double crochet stitches.
- For Row 4, chain 1 and turn. Work 1 single crochet in the first stitch and in every stitch across. You will have 62 single crochet stitches.
- Repeat Rows 3 and 4 until you have a total of 47 rows, finishing with a final double crochet row.
- Check the size; it should be approximately 18 inches wide and 24 inches long.
- When Row 47 is complete, fasten off by cutting the yarn and pulling the tail through the final loop. Weave in the ends with a yarn needle and trim the extra yarn.
- If the edges look uneven, block the blanket by lightly dampening it, laying it flat, and smoothing it to 18 inches by 24 inches.
Notes
Inspect the blanket before each use for any loose threads. Store it folded in a breathable container.
- Cook Time: 360 minutes
