Create beautiful and vibrant gelatin suncatchers for your home that catch the light and enhance your space.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tablespoons unflavored gelatin powder
  • 1 cup warm water
  • Food coloring (various colors)
  • Small pot
  • Heat-safe mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • A whisk or spoon
  • Suncatcher molds (silicone molds preferred)
  • Wax paper or a non-stick surface
  • String or ribbon for hanging

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 cup of water in a small pot until warm, but not boiling.
  2. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of gelatin powder into the warm water while stirring with a whisk.
  3. Remove the pot from the heat and allow it to cool slightly.
  4. Divide the mixture into separate bowls for each color.
  5. Add a few drops of food coloring to each bowl and stir gently.
  6. Place the suncatcher molds on a flat, stable surface.
  7. Carefully pour the colored gelatin mixture into the molds.
  8. Allow the first layer to set slightly in the fridge for about 20-30 minutes before adding the next color, if layering.
  9. Rest the filled molds at room temperature for about 1-2 hours until fully set.
  10. Remove the suncatchers from the molds gently.
  11. Punch a small hole at the top of each suncatcher and insert a piece of string or ribbon for hanging.
  12. Hang your suncatchers in a sunny spot and enjoy the beauty they bring to your space.

Notes
