Ingredients
Scale
- 2 tablespoons unflavored gelatin powder
- 1 cup warm water
- Food coloring (various colors)
- Small pot
- Heat-safe mixing bowl
- Measuring cups and spoons
- A whisk or spoon
- Suncatcher molds (silicone molds preferred)
- Wax paper or a non-stick surface
- String or ribbon for hanging
Instructions
- Heat 1 cup of water in a small pot until warm, but not boiling.
- Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of gelatin powder into the warm water while stirring with a whisk.
- Remove the pot from the heat and allow it to cool slightly.
- Divide the mixture into separate bowls for each color.
- Add a few drops of food coloring to each bowl and stir gently.
- Place the suncatcher molds on a flat, stable surface.
- Carefully pour the colored gelatin mixture into the molds.
- Allow the first layer to set slightly in the fridge for about 20-30 minutes before adding the next color, if layering.
- Rest the filled molds at room temperature for about 1-2 hours until fully set.
- Remove the suncatchers from the molds gently.
- Punch a small hole at the top of each suncatcher and insert a piece of string or ribbon for hanging.
- Hang your suncatchers in a sunny spot and enjoy the beauty they bring to your space.
