Description
A soothing DIY project to create beautiful suncatchers with blue crayon shavings.
Ingredients
- Blue crayons (as many shades as you’d like)
- Wax paper or parchment paper
- An iron (for melting)
- A flat, heavy object (such as a book or cutting board)
- Scissors
- String or suction cups (for hanging)
Instructions
- Prepare your workspace: Clear a comfortable space on a table and lay down newspaper to catch any crayon bits.
- Unwrap the blue crayons carefully and place them in a small bowl for easy access.
- Shave the crayons using a grater or a sharp knife into small pieces.
- Layer the shavings by cutting out two pieces of wax or parchment paper and sprinkling the blue shavings on one piece.
- Cover the shavings with the second piece of paper to create a sandwich of color.
- Melt the crayons by gliding your iron set to a low temperature over the top paper.
- Flatten the suncatcher by pressing down on the paper with a flat, heavy object for a few minutes.
- Cool the suncatcher completely and cut it into your desired shape.
- Prepare for hanging by creating holes at the top and attaching string or suction cups.
Notes
Store suncatchers in a cool, dry place away from direct heat or sunlight when not in use.
