Description

Transform simple coffee filters into beautiful and delicate flowers through a calming and artistic crafting process.

Ingredients

  • Coffee filters (unbleached)
  • Water-based markers or food coloring
  • Scissors (child-safe if crafting with kids)
  • Wire or pipe cleaners (green for stems)
  • Small bowl or dish (for soaking color)
  • Clean water
  • Dropper (optional)
  • Paper towels (for drying)
  • Optional: glitter or other embellishments

Instructions

  1. Prepare your workspace by laying down paper towels or a protective covering.
  2. Take a coffee filter and place it flat on your surface.
  3. Use markers or food coloring to create interesting patterns on the filter.
  4. Once decorated, gently mist the filter with water to watch colors blend.
  5. Allow the filter to dry for a bit.
  6. While your filter dries, fold another filter in half then again to create a wedge shape.
  7. Cut the curved edge to create petal shapes.
  8. Layer several cut filters to create a larger flower.
  9. Secure the petals together using a pipe cleaner.
  10. Shape the pipe cleaner into a stem for your flower.

Notes

Feel free to experiment with different sizes and colors of filters, and make this a family-friendly activity!
