Description

A mindful DIY project for making beautiful coffee filter flowers to bring color and joy into your home.

Ingredients

  • Coffee filters (plain or dyed)
  • Water (for dampening the filters)
  • Food coloring or watercolor paints (optional)
  • Scissors
  • Pipe cleaners or floral wire
  • Small bowl (for mixing colors)
  • Pencil or marker (optional)

Instructions

  1. Start by making a flat workspace. Lay out your coffee filters and your chosen materials.
  2. If you want to color your flowers, mix water with a bit of food coloring in the small bowl.
  3. Dip the edges of the coffee filter into the colored water.
  4. After coloring, carefully remove the filter and lay it flat on a clean surface, allowing it to dry.
  5. Once dry, fold the filter in half and then in half again to create a smaller shape.
  6. With scissors, gently cut rounded edges to create petal shapes.
  7. Open the folded filter to reveal your flower shape.
  8. Gather a few filters together and fold them, stacking them for fullness.
  9. If you like, add more details like layering small filters or creating contrasting centers.
  10. Finally, arrange your coffee filter flowers in a vase or give them as a gift.

Notes

Store the flowers in a soft box or drawer away from direct sunlight for longevity.
