Description
Create a soothing crochet piece using simple stitches that brings warmth and softness to your home.
Ingredients
- 360 yards of worsted weight yarn, weight 4 medium (about 3 skeins of 100 g each)
- One H-8 (5.0 mm) crochet hook
- Yarn needle for weaving in ends
- Sharp scissors
- One stitch marker (optional)

- One small wooden ring, about 1.5 inches (4 cm) across
Instructions
- Make a slip knot, then chain 26.
- Row 1: Make 1 double crochet (dc) in the third chain from the hook. Continue with 1 dc in each chain across. Turn your work. (24 dc)
- Row 2: Chain 2 for the turning chain. Make 1 dc in each stitch across, placing the final dc into the top of the turning chain from the previous row. Turn. (24 dc)
- Rows 3 through 10: Repeat Row 2 eight times, counting 24 stitches at the end of each row.
- Row 11: Chain 2, then make 1 dc in each of the first 6 stitches. Make 2 dc in the next stitch for an increase. Continue with 1 dc in each remaining stitch across. (25 dc)
- Row 12: Chain 2, then make 1 dc in each stitch across. Turn. (25 dc)
- Rows 13 through 18: Repeat Row 12 six times, counting 25 dc after each row.
- Row 19: Chain 2, then make 1 dc in each of the first 7 stitches. Make 2 dc in the next stitch, then make 1 dc in each remaining stitch across. (26 dc)
- Row 20: Chain 2, then make 1 dc in each stitch across. Turn. (26 dc)
- Rows 21 through 26: Repeat Row 20 six times, counting 26 dc at the end of each row.
- Row 27: Chain 2, then make 1 dc in each of the first 8 stitches. Make 2 dc in the next stitch, then make 1 dc in each remaining stitch across. (27 dc)
- Rows 28 through 30: Chain 2, then make 1 dc in each stitch across. Turn after Rows 28 and 29. At the end of Row 30, do not turn. Fasten off, leaving a 10-inch (25 cm) tail for weaving. (27 dc)
- For the hanging loop, attach yarn to one side of the wooden ring with a slip stitch. Chain 18, then slip stitch around the opposite side of the ring. Fasten off and weave in the ends.
- Use a yarn needle to weave in every loose end through the backs of several stitches. Trim the tails only after they feel secure. If the piece looks uneven, block it by dampening it lightly and reshaping it to 8 by 10 inches (20 by 25 cm). Let it dry fully before hanging.
