Ingredients
- Eggs (real or faux)
- Baking soda (2 tablespoons)
- Water (to mix with baking soda)
- Food coloring or natural dyes
- Bowls for mixing
- Paintbrushes (various sizes)
- Paper towels
- A tray or newspaper (for workspace protection)
Instructions
- Prepare your workspace by laying out the newspaper or tray.
- If using real eggs, begin by hard boiling them and allowing them to cool completely.
- In a bowl, mix together about two tablespoons of baking soda with a small amount of water until you achieve a thick paste.
- Add a few drops of food coloring to the paste and stir gently until the color spreads evenly.
- Dip your brush into the colored mixture, then carefully brush it onto the egg with broad strokes.
- Let your first layer dry for a few minutes.
- Add additional layers with different colors if desired.
- Once finished, set your eggs aside to dry completely.
Notes
You can use natural dyes or include patterns with tape for creative variation.
