Description
A delightful and non-toxic alternative to traditional paint, perfect for engaging family art projects.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup baking soda
- 1/2 cup white vinegar
- 1/2 cup corn syrup
- Food coloring (various colors)
- Mixing bowls
- Whisk or spoon
- Containers for storage
Instructions
- Combine the ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of baking soda and 1/2 cup of white vinegar. Watch the exciting fizzing reaction as the vinegar reacts with the baking soda! Stir gently until the fizzing subsides.
- Add corn syrup: Once the fizz has calmed, add 1/2 cup of corn syrup to the mixture. This will give your paint a nice glossy finish and help it stick better.
- Mix in colors: Divide the mixture into smaller bowls, depending on how many colors you’d like to create. Add a few drops of food coloring to each bowl and stir until you achieve your desired shades.
- Test your paint: Brush a small amount onto paper or canvas to see the texture and color. Adjust the consistency by adding a bit more corn syrup or water if needed.
- Store your paint: Keep unused paint in airtight containers to maintain freshness. Let it dry completely for a more permanent finish once you’re finished painting.
Notes
Experiment with different amounts of baking soda to create varying textures and color combinations. Store paint in the refrigerator for best results.
