Description

A fun and educational DIY project to create a stunning display of glowing fireworks in a jar, perfect for all ages and occasions.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 clear glass jar with lid
  • Water
  • 12 tablespoons baking soda
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil (or baby oil)
  • Food coloring (various colors)
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Small funnel (optional)
  • Stirring stick or spoon

Instructions

  1. Fill your jar halfway with water to act as the base for your fireworks.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix 1-2 tablespoons of baking soda with a small amount of water to create a thick paste.
  3. Add a few drops of food coloring to the baking soda paste and mix well.
  4. Pour about 1/4 cup of vegetable oil into another container.
  5. Use a funnel to carefully pour the oil on top of the water in the jar.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of the colored baking soda paste into the oil and watch the colors burst throughout the jar.

Notes

Experiment with different color combinations and consider using glow-in-the-dark paint for nighttime displays.
