Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (or your choice of mix-ins)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring just until combined. Do not overmix!
  6. Gently fold in the chocolate chips, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  7. Drop tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, leaving space for spreading. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown around the edges.
  8. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For different flavors, substitute chocolate chips with raisins, chopped nuts, or dried cranberries.
