Description

Delightful candy-coated apples perfect for fall gatherings and Halloween celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 medium-sized apples (any variety)
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup corn syrup
  • ¾ cup water
  • Food coloring (green, purple, or any preferred colors)
  • Wooden sticks or skewers
  • Candy thermometer
  • Parchment paper or silicone baking mat
  • Toppings (sprinkles, edible glitter, crushed candies)

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry the apples thoroughly.
  2. Insert wooden sticks or skewers into the stem end of each apple.
  3. In a medium saucepan, mix the sugar, corn syrup, and water.
  4. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  5. Use a candy thermometer to monitor the mixture, bringing it to a boil without stirring until it reaches 300°F (hard-crack stage).
  6. Remove from heat, then carefully add food coloring and stir until evenly distributed.
  7. Dip each apple into the hot candy mixture, swirling to coat evenly, and let excess drip off.
  8. Place the coated apples on parchment paper or a silicone mat to set.
  9. While the coating is still sticky, sprinkle your choice of toppings.

Notes

Consider adding flavors like cinnamon or vanilla for extra taste. Use unwaxed apples for better coating adhesion.
