Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup baking soda
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 3/4 cup water
- Optional: food coloring
- Optional: essential oils for scent
- Optional: glitter for sparkle
- Mixing bowl
- Saucepan
- Rolling pin
- Cookie cutters (various shapes)
- Baking sheet
- Parchment paper
- Ribbon or twine for hanging
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, blend 1 cup of baking soda and 1/2 cup of cornstarch.
- Gradually stir in 3/4 cup of water until you achieve a smooth batter.
- Pour the mixture into a saucepan over medium heat.
- Stir continuously until it thickens and starts to ball together, about 5-10 minutes.
- Transfer the dough to a bowl and let it cool for a few minutes.
- Place the dough on a floured surface and use a rolling pin to flatten it to about 1/4 inch thick.
- Use cookie cutters to cut out festive shapes.
- Transfer the cut-out shapes onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Create a small hole at the top of each ornament for hanging using a straw.
- Preheat your oven to 175°F (80°C) and bake the ornaments for 45 minutes to an hour.
- Let them cool fully after baking.
- Once cooled, paint, glitter, or scent the ornaments as desired.
- Thread ribbon or twine through the holes for hanging.
