Ingredients
- Empty paper towel rolls or toilet paper rolls
- Basic craft paint (yellow, orange, or your choice)
- Paintbrushes
- Glitter (optional)
- Battery-operated tea lights
- Scissors
- Glue (craft glue or hot glue)
- Black construction paper
- Googly eyes (optional)
Instructions
- Clean the rolls, ensuring they are empty and free from residue.
- For taller fireflies, keep the roll full; for shorter ones, cut one in half.
- Select desired colors for the body and paint the exterior evenly with a paintbrush, allowing it to dry completely.
- If using glitter, sprinkle it on while the paint is still wet.
- Cut out wing shapes from black construction paper and glue them to the back of the painted roll, allowing some to stand out.
- Glue googly eyes or cut circles from paper and attach them for a whimsical look.
- Place a battery-operated tea light inside and close the roll at the open end if needed.
- Turn on the tea light to watch your fireflies glow!
Notes
Supervise younger children with scissors or hot glue and encourage them to paint and decorate freely.
