Create charming paper roll fireflies that add a whimsical touch to your home using recyclable materials.

- 2 empty toilet paper rolls
- Yellow and black acrylic paint
- Paintbrush
- Glow-in-the-dark paint (optional)
- Black construction paper
- Green or colorful cardstock
- Scissors
- Craft glue
- Googly eyes
- LED tea light (for realistic glow)
Instructions
- Prepare the Paper Rolls: Clean and dry the empty toilet paper rolls. Cut one roll in half for smaller fireflies if desired.
- Paint the Rolls: Cover the exterior of the rolls with yellow acrylic paint and let dry. Apply a layer of glow-in-the-dark paint if desired.
- Create the Wings: Cut out wing shapes from colored cardstock and layer for effect.
- Assemble the Fireflies: Glue wings to the back of the painted roll, positioning them for a whimsical look.
- Add Facial Features: Glue googly eyes to the front and cut out features from black construction paper if desired.
- Make Them Glow: Place an LED tea light inside or underneath to illuminate at night.
Notes
Consider using other recyclable materials and swapping acrylics for markers for ease. Glitter or stickers can be added for decoration.
