- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup salt
- 1 cup warm water
- Mixing bowl
- Baking sheet
- Parchment paper
- Rolling pin
- Leaf templates or real leaves for pressing
- Paints (acrylic or water-based)
- Paintbrushes
- Optional: varnish for sealing
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of all-purpose flour and 1 cup of salt.
- Gradually add 1 cup of warm water while stirring until a dough forms.
- Transfer to a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth.
- Using a rolling pin, flatten the dough to about 1/4 inch thickness.
- Place leaf templates or real leaves onto the dough and gently press down to create an impression.
- Carefully cut around the leaf shape using a knife or cookie cutter.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Transfer the dough leaves onto the baking sheet, spacing them out.
- Preheat the oven to 200°F (93°C) and bake for 2-3 hours or until hard and dry.
- Allow leaves to cool completely once out of the oven.
- Use your choice of paints to decorate the leaves.
- Optional: Add a coat of varnish for added durability.
