Description
Create vibrant bioplastic suncatchers that bring color and joy to your windows or outdoor spaces using sustainable materials.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup of cornstarch
- 1/4 cup of corn syrup
- 1 cup of water
- Food coloring (various colors)
- Cookie cutters (various shapes)
- Baking parchment or wax paper
- Tray for drying
- Small paintbrush (optional)
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine the cornstarch, corn syrup, and water. Stir over medium heat until thickened, resembling a paste, then remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Divide the mixture into separate bowls and add food coloring to achieve desired shades.
- Line a baking tray with parchment or wax paper and use cookie cutters to shape the mixture on the tray, making holes for hanging if desired.
- Allow to dry for a few hours or overnight until completely hard, then carefully peel off the paper.
- Thread string or fishing line through the holes and hang them up to catch the sunlight.
Notes
Experiment with textures by adding glitter or beads, and use natural extracts for scent. Display suncatchers in sheltered areas to protect from moisture.
