Description
Indulge in these visually stunning USA Flag Candy Apples, perfect for celebrating national holidays with a festive twist.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 medium-sized apples (your choice of variety)
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup corn syrup
- 1/2 cup water
- Red candy melts (about 2 cups)
- Blue candy melts (about 1 cup)
- 1 cup white chocolate (for drizzling)
- 6 wooden skewers or candy apple sticks
- Parchment paper for cooling
Instructions
- Prepare the Apples: Wash and dry the apples thoroughly; dry completely with a clean towel. Insert sticks by gently pushing a skewer or candy apple stick into the top of each apple, ensuring it’s secure.
- Make the Candy Coating: In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water. Stir to moisten. Cook over medium heat until the mixture reaches a rolling boil (around 300°F or 149°C) without stirring. Remove from heat and allow to cool for 5 minutes.
- Coat the Apples: Carefully dip each apple into the candy coating, twirling to ensure it’s fully covered. Allow any excess to drip off. Place coated apples on parchment paper to cool.
- Add Colors: In separate bowls, melt red and blue candy melts as per package instructions. Dip the lower half of each apple into the red melts. Use a spoon to drizzle blue melts as stars and white chocolate for stripes.
- Final Touch: Let apples sit until the candy coating hardens.
Notes
Consider using tart apple varieties like Granny Smith for a balanced flavor and swap white chocolate for dark chocolate if desired.
