Description
Celebrate Independence Day with these vibrant and colorful USA flag candy apples, perfect for any festive gathering.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 medium-sized apples (preferably Granny Smith)
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- Red and blue food coloring
- Lollipop sticks or wooden skewers
- Sprinkles or edible glitter (optional)
- Wax paper or silicone baking mat
Instructions
- Wash and dry the apples thoroughly to ensure the candy adheres properly. Insert a lollipop stick into the top of each apple, about halfway through.
- In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar, water, and corn syrup. Cook over medium heat until the sugar dissolves and the mixture reaches a boil. Allow it to simmer until it reaches the hard ball stage (around 250°F or 121°C).
- Divide the candy mixture into three separate bowls. In one bowl, add red food coloring; in another, add blue. Leave the third bowl as is for the white apples.
- Dip each apple into the red candy mixture, allowing excess to drip off. Place the red-coated apples on a wax paper-lined tray to set. Repeat the same process for the blue apples. For the white apples, just dip them directly into the candy without adding any color.
- Before the candy sets, sprinkle with edible glitter or sprinkles for an extra festive touch.
Notes
You can swap apples, flavor the candy, or add toppings to personalize your candy apples.
