Transform plain eggshells into vibrant turquoise crystals through a simple and fun craft project perfect for all ages.
Ingredients
- Clean eggshells (6-8, depending on desired quantity)
- Turquoise dye (food coloring or fabric dye)
- Table salt (1 cup)
- Water (1-2 cups)
- Baking sheet
- Parchment paper
- Oven or dehydrator
Instructions
- Rinse the eggshells thoroughly and allow them to dry.
- Crush the shells into smaller pieces using a mortar and pestle or a rolling pin.
- In a mixing bowl, combine water (1-2 cups) with turquoise dye. Adjust the intensity of the color by adding more or less dye to the solution.
- Stir in 1 cup of table salt into the dye solution until fully dissolved.
- Place the crushed eggshells in the dye solution. Stir gently to ensure all pieces are coated.
- Let them soak for about 30 minutes for vibrant color.
- Preheat the oven to 200°F (90°C). Spread the dyed eggshells evenly on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, checking frequently to avoid burning. Once crispy and dry, remove from the oven and let cool.
- Use your turquoise eggshell crystals in jars, art projects, or as decorative accents!
