A simple and rewarding craft project to create vibrant turquoise crystals using borax and water, perfect for decoration or as unique gifts.

Ingredients

  • Borax powder (1 cup)
  • Water (2 cups)
  • Clear glass container (one or more)
  • String or pipe cleaners (for shape)
  • Pencil or stick (to suspend crystal)
  • Food coloring (optional, for tinted crystals)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your solution by heating 2 cups of water and dissolving 1 cup of borax in it. Add food coloring if desired.
  2. Shape a piece of string or pipe cleaner into your desired shape and tie it to a pencil or stick.
  3. Pour the borax solution into a glass container and suspend the shaped string in the solution using the pencil.
  4. Let the setup sit in a cool, dry area for several hours or overnight to allow crystals to form.
  5. Once crystallization is complete, remove the creation from the solution and rinse with cool water.
