Description
Create a delightful nativity scene using empty toilet paper rolls. This engaging DIY project teaches children about the Christmas story while promoting creativity and recycling.
Ingredients
Scale
- 5 empty toilet paper rolls
- Colored construction paper (blue, brown, yellow, etc.)
- Googly eyes (optional)
- Scissors
- Glue or white craft glue
- Markers or crayons
- Cotton balls (for angels)
- Star cutout (for the angel or decoration)
- Optional: glitter for added sparkle
Instructions
- Gather your empty toilet paper rolls and ensure they are clean and dry. Decide on the characters you want to create: Mary, Joseph, Baby Jesus, the angel, and animals.
- Cut the colored construction paper into rectangles that will wrap around each toilet paper roll. Glue the paper onto each roll, leaving enough to cover the top for heads or any other character variations.
- Use markers or crayons to draw faces on each character. Optionally, glue on googly eyes for added character and fun.
- For Baby Jesus, take a small piece of yellow paper or a cotton ball, then glue it onto the center of a brown or blue cutout representing a manger.
- Create an angel by adding wings using white paper, and add glitter for sparkle. Attach the angel to a taller roll or use a separate base.
- Allow everything to dry completely. Set up your nativity scene in a special place at home for everyone to enjoy.
Notes
Customize characters, swap traditional nativity figures for animals, or explore different themes for seasonal variations. Ensure to keep everything safe when not in use.
