Description

A fun DIY project to create your own swirl glowing bounce ball, perfect for kids and adults to explore creativity and science.

Ingredients

  • Glow-in-the-dark paint (various colors)
  • Clear balloon (round)
  • Baking soda (1 cup)
  • Cornstarch (1 cup)
  • White vinegar (1/2 cup)
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spoon
  • Funnel
  • Measuring cups
  • Plastic gloves (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of baking soda and 1 cup of cornstarch. Slowly add in 1/2 cup of white vinegar and watch the fizzle!
  2. Stir in a few drops of food coloring to the mixture if you wish to add vibrant colors.
  3. Use a funnel to carefully transfer the mixture into the clear balloon, being gentle to avoid spills.
  4. Inflate the balloon gently, ensuring there’s enough air for bouncing, and tie it securely.
  5. Once tied, squeeze glow-in-the-dark paint around the outside of the balloon, working it into patterns.
  6. Let your ball sit in a well-lit area for a few hours to charge the glow, then turn off the lights to see it illuminate!

Notes

Experiment with different materials and colors for a unique ball. Ensure non-toxic materials are used, especially if children will play with it.
