Instructions
- Wash and Dry: Rinse apples under cool water and dry them thoroughly with a clean towel.
- Insert Sticks: Push lollipop sticks or wooden skewers into the stem end of each apple, about halfway in.
- Combine Ingredients: In a medium saucepan, mix sugar, corn syrup, and water.
- Heat: Cook over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
- Boil: Increase heat and allow the mixture to boil without stirring until it reaches the hard crack stage (300°F or 150°C), about 10-15 minutes. Use a candy thermometer for accuracy.
- Add Flavor and Color: Once the syrup reaches the correct temperature, remove it from heat. Stir in your chosen flavor extract and add food coloring until the desired hue is achieved.
- Dip the Apples: Hold each apple by the stick and dip into the candy coating. Rotate to ensure an even coverage.
- Set on Baking Sheet: Place the coated apples upright on the parchment-lined baking sheet to cool and harden.
- Decorate: Sprinkle edible glitter or sprinkles on the apples while the coating is still sticky for an extra touch of fun.
