Description

A playful twist on classic candy apples, featuring tropical flavors and an eye-catching presentation.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Firm apples (e.g., Granny Smith or Fuji)
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Blue raspberry flavored candy melts
  • 1 cup shredded coconut
  • Lollipop sticks or wooden skewers
  • Candy thermometer
  • Parchment paper

Instructions

  1. Wash and Dry: Clean the apples thoroughly to remove any wax and ensure they are completely dry.
  2. Insert Sticks: Push lollipop sticks into the stem end of each apple, ensuring they are secure.
  3. Combine Ingredients: In a saucepan, combine the sugar, corn syrup, and water.
  4. Heat Mixture: Place the saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  5. Cook: Allow the mixture to boil without stirring until it reaches 300°F on a candy thermometer (hard crack stage).
  6. Add Vanilla: Remove from heat and carefully stir in the vanilla extract.
  7. Dip and Coat: Quickly dip each apple into the hot syrup, ensuring they are completely covered.
  8. Set on Parchment: Place the dipped apples on parchment paper to allow them to cool and harden.
  9. Melt Candy Coating: Melt blue raspberry candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second increments until smooth.
  10. Drizzle: Use a spoon to drizzle the melted candy over the hardened candy coating for a wave effect.
  11. Sprinkle Coconut: Immediately sprinkle shredded coconut on top to represent the ocean waves.

Notes

Store in a cool, dry place in an airtight container for up to 5 days. Avoid refrigeration as it may cause the coating to become sticky.
