Ingredients

- 2 cups white granulated sugar
- 1 cup water
- Clean glass jars or cups
- String or wooden skewers
- Clothespins (if using string)
- Food coloring (optional)
- Flavoring (optional, such as vanilla or mint)
Instructions
- In a pot, combine 2 cups of sugar with 1 cup of water and heat on medium, stirring until dissolved.
- If desired, add a few drops of food coloring and a splash of flavoring.
- Remove from heat and let cool for about 10-15 minutes.
- Pour the cooled sugar solution into a clean jar, leaving space at the top.
- For string, tie one end to a pencil and suspend it in the jar; or insert a skewer directly into the jar.
- Place the jar in a cool, undisturbed location and wait 3-7 days for crystals to form.
Notes
Experiment with different flavors and colors. Store finished crystals in an airtight container.
