Description

Create stunning sugar crystal ornaments that are both beautiful and educational. Perfect for family fun and custom decoration.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 clean glass jar (wide mouth)
  • 1 tablespoon wooden skewer or string
  • 1 teaspoon food coloring (optional)
  • A pot for boiling
  • A heat-safe container for cooling
  • Scissors (if using string)
  • A clean surface to work on

Instructions

  1. In a pot, combine 2 cups of granulated sugar with 1 cup of water. Heat and stir until dissolved.
  2. If desired, add food coloring to the mixture and stir well.
  3. Remove from heat and let cool for about 10 minutes.
  4. Pour the cooled solution into the glass jar, leaving some space at the top.
  5. Dip the skewer in the solution, roll in sugar, then suspend it in the jar without touching the sides or bottom.
  6. Cover the jar with a coffee filter or cloth and place in a cool, undisturbed location for 5-7 days.
  7. Once crystals form, remove the skewer, let it dry, and hang it as desired.

Notes

Experiment with different shapes and flavors for your ornaments! Adult supervision is recommended for safety.
