Description

Create delightful sugar crystal ornaments that sparkle and shine. A fun and educational craft for all ages.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • Clean glass jar
  • Wooden skewer or string
  • Clothespin (optional for hanging)
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Pot for boiling water

Instructions

  1. Wet the wooden skewer or string in water and roll it in sugar to create a textured surface.
  2. In a pot, combine 2 cups of sugar and 1 cup of water. Heat on medium until the sugar fully dissolves.
  3. If desired, add a few drops of food coloring and swirl gently.
  4. Carefully pour the hot sugar solution into the clean glass jar, filling it halfway.
  5. Suspend the sugar-coated skewer in the jar, securing the top with a clothespin to ensure it doesn’t touch the bottom.
  6. Set the jar in a cool, undisturbed area and check back in a few days as the crystals grow.
  7. Once the crystals have formed, remove the skewer and let it dry completely before displaying or gifting.

Notes

Use different containers and seasonal colors for custom ornaments. Ensure materials are food-safe if used for edible gifts.
