Description

Delightful cinnamon rolls with a homemade sticky glaze, perfect for breakfast or brunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour, plus extra for dusting
  • 1/2 cup lukewarm milk
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 tsp)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for drizzling)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine lukewarm milk and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over and let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a larger bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Add melted butter and yeast mixture, mix until a dough forms.
  3. Incorporate the egg and knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle about 1/2 inch thick. Spread melted butter over the surface, mix brown sugar and cinnamon, and sprinkle over the dough. Add chopped nuts if desired.
  6. Roll the dough tightly into a log from one long side. Cut into 12 even pieces and place in a greased baking dish.
  7. Cover the rolls and let rise again for about 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  9. While the rolls are baking, mix powdered sugar with a splash of milk to create a glaze. Adjust for desired consistency.
  10. Drizzle the glaze over warm rolls after baking. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

Add chocolate chips for a sweeter twist or try different spices like nutmeg for variation.
