Description
Delightful cinnamon rolls with a homemade sticky glaze, perfect for breakfast or brunch.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour, plus extra for dusting
- 1/2 cup lukewarm milk
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 tsp)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for drizzling)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine lukewarm milk and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over and let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a larger bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Add melted butter and yeast mixture, mix until a dough forms.
- Incorporate the egg and knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle about 1/2 inch thick. Spread melted butter over the surface, mix brown sugar and cinnamon, and sprinkle over the dough. Add chopped nuts if desired.
- Roll the dough tightly into a log from one long side. Cut into 12 even pieces and place in a greased baking dish.
- Cover the rolls and let rise again for about 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- While the rolls are baking, mix powdered sugar with a splash of milk to create a glaze. Adjust for desired consistency.
- Drizzle the glaze over warm rolls after baking. Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
Add chocolate chips for a sweeter twist or try different spices like nutmeg for variation.
