Description

A fun and mesmerizing craft that combines science and creativity to create colorful explosions in a jar.


Ingredients

Scale
  • Clear glass jar (large enough to see the effect)
  • Warm water
  • Vegetable oil or any clear oil (e.g., olive oil)
  • Food coloring (variety of colors)
  • 1 tablespoon baking soda
  • Vinegar
  • Optional: Glitter for added sparkle

Instructions

  1. Fill the jar about ¾ full with warm water and set aside.
  2. In a small bowl, add a few tablespoons of vegetable oil, then drop in 5-6 drops of different food coloring and observe.
  3. Slowly pour the colored oil mixture into the jar with warm water.
  4. Mix 1 tablespoon of baking soda with a bit of water to make a paste, then pour it into the jar.
  5. Quickly add a few tablespoons of vinegar to the jar and watch the colorful, bubbly display!

Notes
