Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup milk
- ⅓ cup vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Food coloring (various colors for a rainbow effect)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) while you prepare the batter.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
- In a separate mixing bowl, combine the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract.
- Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined — be careful not to overmix.
- Divide the batter into small cups or a muffin tin, filling each about halfway. Add a few drops of food coloring to each cup and swirl with a toothpick for fun designs.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Allow the science cubes to cool slightly before removing them from the tin.
Notes
Customize flavors by adding lemon zest or almond extract. For gluten-free, swap all-purpose flour with a gluten-free blend.
