Description

A captivating craft project to create beautiful crystalline structures using pipe cleaners and baking soda.

Ingredients

  • White pipe cleaners (or various colors)
  • Baking soda (½ cup)
  • Water (2 cups)
  • A saucepan
  • A heat source (stove)
  • A jar or glass for crystal growth
  • String or thread (optional)
  • Scissors

Instructions

  1. Shape your pipe cleaners into desired figures, such as snowflakes or trees, enhancing their surface area for better crystal growth.
  2. In a saucepan, combine 2 cups of water and ½ cup of baking soda. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring until dissolved.
  3. Once clear, remove from heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
  4. Dip the pipe cleaner shapes into the solution, ensuring full submersion. Optionally, thread a string for hanging.
  5. Transfer shapes to a jar or glass, filling it with the remaining solution, leaving space at the top.
  6. Cover the jar with a cloth and place it in a cool location for at least 24 hours.
  7. After 24 hours, check your creations for beautiful crystals! Let them grow longer for thicker crystals.

Notes

Experiment with different colors of pipe cleaners and food coloring for unique crystals. Try using sugar or salt for different formations.
