Description

Create stunning and customizable pressed flower keepsakes using a simple cornstarch gel method for decoration, gifts, or mementos.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon clear glue (optional for added stability)
  • Pressed flowers (dried and flattened)
  • Round molds or discs (silicone works well)
  • Mixing bowl
  • Stirring utensil
  • Wax paper or parchment paper (for easy removal)

Instructions

  1. Mix Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the cornstarch and water. Stir until smooth, with no lumps.
  2. Cook the Mixture: Pour the mixture into a saucepan and heat over medium-low heat. Continuously stir for about 5-7 minutes or until the mixture thickens and becomes translucent.
  3. Cool Down: Once thickened, remove from heat and let it cool slightly until just warm to touch.
  4. Prepare Molds: Lightly spray or coat your molds with a thin layer of cooking spray or a neutral oil to prevent sticking.
  5. Fill Molds: Spoon a thin layer of the cornstarch gel into the molds, spreading it evenly across the bottom.
  6. Add Flowers: Place your pressed flowers gently onto the gel, arranging them as desired. Use a small spoon to add more gel on top of the flowers to fully cover them.
  7. Let It Set: Allow the molds to sit at room temperature for 24 hours or until the gel is completely hardened.
  8. Remove from Molds: Carefully peel away the molds, making sure not to damage the disks.
  9. Optional Finishing Touch: If desired, you can add a coat of clear sealant for extra durability.

Notes

Experiment with different flower types and colors. Keep your finished projects in a dry, cool place to avoid fading.
