Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup table salt
- 1 cup water
- Food coloring (optional)
- A small pot for boiling
- A heat-resistant glass container (like a mason jar)
- A whisk or spoon for stirring
- A paper towel or clean cloth
- Baking sheet or tray
Instructions
- Prepare your solution: In a small pot, boil 1 cup of water. Gradually add 1 cup of table salt and stir continuously until dissolved. Add food coloring if desired.
- Set up your crystallization container: Pour the salt solution into a heat-resistant glass container, leaving some space at the top.
- Create crystal structures: Place the container on a baking sheet to catch spills and set it in a warm, undisturbed location for 24-48 hours.
- Finishing touches: Once crystals form, gently remove them from the jar with a paper towel, rinse with cool water, and allow to dry completely.
Notes
Try swapping salt with sugar for different crystal effects. Experiment with colors for a rainbow effect.
