Description

Create stunning seashell crystal geodes that mimic ocean formations using simple materials.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Clean seashells (various shapes and sizes)
  • 3 cups Epsom salt
  • Boiling water
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Small bowls or containers
  • Mixing spoon
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper

Instructions

  1. Clean the seashells: Rinse under warm water to remove dirt and allow them to dry completely.
  2. Set up your work area: Lay parchment paper on a baking sheet to protect your workspace.
  3. Boil water: Bring water to a rolling boil.
  4. Mix in Epsom salt: Measure approximately 3 cups of salt and pour it into a bowl, then gradually add boiling water while stirring until dissolved.
  5. Add color (optional): Incorporate food coloring for colored crystals.
  6. Fill the seashells: Spoon the salt solution into each shell, filling to about three-quarters full.
  7. Let them sit: Place filled shells on the baking sheet and allow them to cool at room temperature for crystals to form overnight.
  8. Check your geodes: After 24 hours, observe crystal growth and add more solution if needed.

Notes

Experiment with different shapes and colors for unique geode designs. Keep in a cool, dry place for longevity.
