Description
A fun and easy-to-make appetizer that captures the flavors of jalapeno poppers in a pull-apart twist format, perfect for parties or casual gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 sheet of puff pastry (thawed) OR 1 tube of crescent dough OR pizza dough
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or a cheddar blend)
- 2 to 4 tbsp jalapenos, chopped (jarred or fresh, patted dry)
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 2 tbsp cooked bacon bits (optional)
- Pinch of salt and black pepper (optional)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- Optional topping: everything bagel seasoning or sesame seeds
Instructions
- Heat the oven to 400°F for puff pastry or 375°F for crescent dough. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Mix the filling by stir together the cream cheese, shredded cheese, jalapenos, garlic powder, and optional bacon until spreadable.
- Build your layers by rolling out the dough into a rectangle and spreading the filling across half, leaving a small border, then fold the other half over and press the edges gently.
- Slice into strips about 1 inch wide, twist each strip a few times, and place on the baking sheet.
- Brush with whisked egg and sprinkle with seasoning if desired. Bake until golden and puffy (15-20 minutes for puff pastry, 12-16 minutes for crescent dough).
- Cool for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
To control spice levels, adjust the amount of jalapenos used. Serve with ranch, salsa, or sour cream for dipping.
