Description

A fun and educational salt volcano science experiment that teaches chemistry through a colorful eruption using simple kitchen ingredients.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon baking soda
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Small container or cup
  • Tray or large dish
  • Spoon or stirrer

Instructions

  1. Find a suitable area and place the small container in the center of the tray.
  2. In the small container, mix 1 tablespoon of baking soda and 2 tablespoons of salt.
  3. Optionally, add a few drops of food coloring and stir gently.
  4. Slowly pour 1/4 cup of vinegar into the container with the salt mixture.
  5. Allow the creation to settle and then dispose of the materials. Rinse the tray and container with water.

Notes

This experiment is safe when conducted under adult supervision. Try different salts and add scents or glitters for variations.
