Description

A delightful craft that combines creativity and science, making textured artwork with salt and colorful watercolor paints.

Ingredients

  • White school glue
  • Salt (table salt or coarse)
  • Watercolor paints (liquid)
  • Thick paper or cardstock
  • Small paintbrush
  • Tray or plate (to catch excess salt)
  • Optional: Dropper or pipette for painting

Instructions

  1. Create Your Design: Start with a piece of thick paper or cardstock. Use white school glue to draw a design or pattern. Be generous with the glue to ensure the salt sticks well.
  2. Apply Salt: While the glue is still wet, sprinkle salt over the design generously. Shake off any excess salt onto a tray or plate.
  3. Add Color: Using a droplet or pipette, collect small amounts of liquid watercolor paint. Drop the paint onto the salt and experiment with color mixing.
  4. Let It Dry: Allow the painting to dry completely for a few hours before gently shaking off the excess salt.

Notes

Experiment with different types of salt and paint for varied textures and effects. Supervise younger children during the activity.
