Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup salt
  • 1 cup water
  • Mixing bowl
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Rolling pin
  • Cookie cutters (optional)
  • Paint and paintbrushes (for decorating)
  • String or ribbon (for hanging)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of flour and 1 cup of salt. Gradually add 1 cup of water, stirring until a dough forms. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth and pliable.
  2. Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C). Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4-inch thickness. Use cookie cutters to create shapes, or mold freehand designs.
  3. Use a straw or skewer to poke a small hole at the top of each ornament for string.
  4. Place the ornaments on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 2-3 hours until completely hard and dry. Allow them to cool completely before decorating.
  5. Once cool, paint your ornaments with your chosen colors and designs. Let the paint dry completely.
  6. Thread string or ribbon through the holes and tie to create hanging ornaments.
