Description

A delightful combination of fresh strawberries coated in homemade rock candy, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh strawberries
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup corn syrup
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Wooden skewers or toothpicks
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper

Instructions

  1. Wash & Dry: Rinse strawberries under cold water and pat dry.
  2. Skewer: Insert skewers or toothpicks into strawberry stems.
  3. Combine Ingredients: Mix sugar, water, and corn syrup in a saucepan.
  4. Heat the Mixture: Cook over medium heat while stirring until sugar dissolves.
  5. Add Color: Stir in food coloring if desired.
  6. Boil: Increase heat and bring to a boil, reaching the soft-ball stage (235°F or 112°C).
  7. Dip the Strawberries: Dip each strawberry in the syrup and let excess drip off.
  8. Set on Baking Sheet: Place dipped strawberries on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  9. Cool: Allow strawberries to cool and the syrup to harden for at least 30 minutes.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. Make sure to avoid refrigeration to prevent stickiness.
