Ingredients
- Wax (soy, beeswax, or paraffin)
- Wick (pre-coated with wax is preferred)
- Fragrance oil (your favorite scents)
- Candle dye (optional)
- Heatproof container (mason jars, tins, or candle molds)
- Double boiler or microwave-safe bowl
- Stirring stick (wooden spoon or chopstick)
- Thermometer (optional but recommended)
- Scissors
- Wick holder (or use chopsticks)
Instructions
- Prepare Your Workspace: Clear a flat surface and cover it with newspaper or a protective cloth. Gather all materials within easy reach.
- Measure the Wax: Determine how much wax you need based on the size of your container.
- Melt the Wax: Use a double boiler or microwave-safe bowl to melt the wax, stirring occasionally.
- Add Fragrance and Dye: Remove from heat, cool slightly, add fragrance oil, and stir thoroughly.
- Secure the Wick: Attach the wick to the bottom center of your container and use a wick holder to keep it upright.
- Pour the Wax: Carefully pour the wax into your container, leaving some space at the top.
- Allow to Cool: Let the candle cool completely, trimming the wick to about 1/4 inch above the wax once cool.
Notes
Experiment with blending fragrances and using natural colorants for unique looks. Consider upcycling old containers for a sustainable touch.
