Description
Create stunning Raspberry Plum Crystal Geodes with this fun and educational DIY project that combines art and science.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup Epsom salt
- 2 cups water
- 1–2 cups sugar (white or brown)
- Food coloring (raspberry and plum colors)
- A pot (for boiling)
- Baking sheet or shallow dish
- Wax paper or parchment paper
- Toothpicks or wooden skewer (for stirring)
- Optional: Glitter or shimmer powder
Instructions
- Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a pot.
- Slowly add the Epsom salt, stirring continuously until dissolved.
- Once dissolved, add 1-2 cups of sugar and a few drops of food coloring to the pot. Stir until everything is well combined and the solution is brightly colored.
- Place a baking sheet lined with wax paper or parchment paper on a flat surface. Pour the mixture directly onto the baking sheet, allowing it to spread evenly.
- Use a toothpick or skewer to create small wells in the mixture where you’d like the crystals to form. Optionally, sprinkle glitter or shimmer powder on top for added sparkle.
- Leave the baking sheet undisturbed for 24–48 hours to allow crystals to form. Observe the transformation each day, watching as crystals grow and change.
- Once fully formed, carefully peel your crystal geodes off the wax paper. Display them in a sunny spot to showcase their beauty!
