Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • Food coloring (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet)
  • Mixing bowls
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Measuring spoons
  • Spoon or spatula

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, stir together the sugar and baking soda.
  3. Slowly add water while mixing until you achieve a damp but moldable texture.
  4. Split the sugar mixture into separate bowls and add a few drops of food coloring, mixing until desired color is achieved.
  5. Form small balls or clumps of the colored sugar mixtures.
  6. Layer or swirl different colors together to create a rainbow effect.
  7. Place the molded sugar clumps on the lined baking sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes, watching for bubbling and slight browning.
  8. Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely before storing in an airtight container.

Notes

For added flavor, mix in extracts like vanilla or lemon. Use edible glitter for extra sparkle!
