Description

A colorful science project where kids learn about chemical reactions by creating a volcano using snow, baking soda, and vinegar.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1 cup vinegar
  • Food coloring (various colors)
  • Snow or crushed ice (enough to create a mound)
  • A shallow dish or tray
  • Plastic squeeze bottles or cups for pouring
  • Optional: Glitter for extra sparkle

Instructions

  1. Create the Snow Mountain: Pile snow or crushed ice into the center of your shallow dish or tray, shaping it into a volcano-like mound with a crater at the top.
  2. Prepare the Volcano Eruption Mixture: In a bowl, mix 1 cup of baking soda with a few drops of food coloring.
  3. Add Baking Soda to the Volcano: Spoon the colored baking soda into the crater hole of the snow volcano.
  4. Get Ready to Erupt: Slowly pour vinegar over the baking soda volcano and watch the colorful fizzing eruptions.
  5. Repeat for More Fun: Add more colored baking soda and vinegar to create additional eruptions.

Notes

Customize colors, swap materials for different seasons, and add scents for enhanced sensory experience.
