Create this magical, soft, and pliable dough that glows under black light, providing a unique sensory play experience for children.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup salt
  • 2 tablespoons cream of tartar
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cups water
  • Food coloring (various colors)
  • Glow-in-the-dark powder (or tonic water)
  • Mixing bowls
  • Measuring cups
  • Spoon or whisk
  • Baking tray or large surface for kneading

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, cream of tartar, and vegetable oil. Mix these dry ingredients thoroughly.
  2. Slowly add water to the dry mixture, stirring continuously to combine until smooth.
  3. Divide the dough into smaller portions for coloring. In each portion, add different food coloring to create a rainbow of hues.
  4. Transfer the mixture to a saucepan over medium heat, stirring continuously until the dough thickens and pulls away from the sides. Remove from heat and let it cool.
  5. Once cool, knead the dough on a clean surface until it’s smooth and elastic. Incorporate more colors as desired!
