Description

A delightful and therapeutic sensory experience, this DIY Rainbow Glow Moon Dough is perfect for kids and adults alike, promoting creativity and fine motor skills with its vibrant colors and glow-in-the-dark feature.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons cream of tartar
  • Food coloring (various colors)
  • Glow-in-the-dark powder (optional)
  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk or spoon
  • Plastic bags for storage

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, 1 cup of salt, and 2 tablespoons of cream of tartar. Use a whisk or spoon to blend the dry ingredients until evenly combined.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix 2 cups of water with 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil. Add your choice of food coloring and glow-in-the-dark powder to the wet mixture.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture and stir to combine. Transfer to a saucepan over medium heat and stir continuously until the dough thickens and forms a ball.
  4. Remove from heat and let it cool for a few minutes. Knead the dough with your hands until smooth and pliable.
  5. Divide the dough into smaller portions for different colors. Add food coloring to each portion and knead until the color is uniform.
  6. Place your moon dough in plastic bags to keep it fresh and soft between uses.

Notes

For variations, you can experiment with mixing different food colors, add essential oils for fragrance, or incorporate biodegradable glitter for extra sparkle.
