Description

Create a mesmerizing rainbow glow lava lamp using simple household materials, perfect for all ages. This fun craft combines creativity and science for a unique decorative piece.

Ingredients

  • Clear glass or plastic bottle (with a secure lid)
  • Water
  • Vegetable oil (like canola or olive oil)
  • Food coloring (various colors)
  • Glitter (optional)
  • Alka-Seltzer tablets or baking soda
  • Flashlight (for glow effect)

Instructions

  1. Start with a clean and dry bottle.
  2. Fill the bottle about one-quarter full with water.
  3. Carefully pour oil into the bottle until it is nearly full.
  4. Use food coloring to add vibrancy, dropping in a few colors.
  5. If desired, add a teaspoon of glitter for extra sparkle.
  6. Break an Alka-Seltzer tablet into pieces and drop one into the bottle to activate the lava lamp effect.
  7. Shine a flashlight onto the bottle for an illuminating glow effect.

Notes

Swap vegetable oil with mineral oil for a different consistency, or use natural coloring agents for an organic approach. Ensure you have enough water for a proper reaction when using Alka-Seltzer.
