  • Water
  • Vegetable oil (or baby oil)
  • Food coloring (various colors)
  • Alka-Seltzer tablets or baking soda and vinegar
  • Glitter (optional)
  • Flashlight (for illuminating the lamp)
  • Funnel (for easy pouring)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Container: Rinse and dry your clear bottle or jar thoroughly and set it on a stable surface.
  2. Create the Liquid Base: Pour water into the container, filling it about one-third full.
  3. Add Oil: Carefully pour vegetable oil into the bottle until it’s nearly full.
  4. Add Color: Add a few drops of your chosen food coloring into the water.
  5. Activate the Lava: Break up Alka-Seltzer tablets into smaller pieces and add them to the mixture.
  6. Illuminate (Optional): Place a flashlight under the bottle to illuminate the colorful movement.
