Description

An engaging science experiment that combines imagination and hands-on learning to create colorful, fluffy rainbow foam.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup of shaving cream (unscented)
  • 1/2 cup of glue (white or clear)
  • Food coloring (various colors)
  • 1/4 cup of baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon of contact lens solution (boric acid solution)
  • A large bowl
  • Whisk or spatula
  • Baking sheet or tray

Instructions

  1. Prepare your workspace by selecting a clean, flat surface and laying down newspaper to catch spills.
  2. In a large bowl, combine 1 cup of shaving cream and 1/2 cup of glue until fluffy and well-blended.
  3. Divide the mixture into separate bowls for multiple colors and add food coloring to each, stirring until the desired shade is achieved.
  4. Stir in 1/4 cup of baking soda to each bowl to help the foam hold its shape and expand.
  5. Slowly add 1 tablespoon of contact lens solution to each bowl and mix until the texture becomes gooey and fluffy.
  6. Scoop the foam out with your hands or a spatula and start playing! Create shapes, scoop it up, or let it ooze.

Notes

For a smoother foam, blend the ingredients in a blender. Experiment with color mixing and consider adding essential oils for scent.
