Description

Create stunning rainbow crystals using recycled eggshells in this fun and educational craft project.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Clean eggshells (about 5-6)
  • 1 cup of water
  • 13 tablespoons of salt (Epsom or table salt)
  • Food coloring (various colors for a rainbow effect)
  • Small pot
  • Stirring spoon
  • Baking sheet or plate
  • Optional: craft glue and glitter for extra sparkle

Instructions

  1. Rinse the eggshells thoroughly to remove any residue and let them dry completely, then crush them into small pieces.
  2. In a small pot, bring 1 cup of water to a boil. Add salt gradually while stirring until saturated.
  3. Add several drops of food coloring to the solution to enhance vibrancy.
  4. Pour the colored salt solution into a baking sheet or plate and evenly distribute the crushed eggshells on top.
  5. Allow the mixture to cool and sit undisturbed for 24-48 hours for crystal formation.
  6. Once the crystals have formed, gently remove them from the eggshells and display them or glue them to a craft project.

Notes

Experiment with different colors and salts for unique effects. Keep crystals in a dry location to prolong their lifespan.
